The first time my character Ti-Enna ever meets a dragon. Ti-Enna, of course, is the name of the baby. Ni-Tanya, her older sister, is holding her mother's hand. Here's a couple characters that have been with me a long time. Generally, when I draw them I draw them as adults.
--
A little background, if you're interested: Ni-Tanya and Ti-Enna are born in a society that co-exists with dragons. There quite a few different species of dragon, this particular species is called Derth. Dragons in this world are intelligent. They cannot speak, but can hear and understand humans. Every generation there are just a couple children born with the ability to speak to, and understand dragons. It's not quite a mind-reading or telepathic ability, but the person is able to read the dragon's countenance and actions, as well as the sounds they make, and just know what they're saying. Know it as if they just heard it speak in human tongue. Ni-Tanya is one of those people. This would probably be the first time she hears a dragon speak.
Ni-Tanya grows up to become one of the greatest Dragon-Speakers in the history of her people. She is adopted into Dubbi, as leader of the Dragon Keepers and Guardian of the Scar (where you can find nearly every species of dragon from every major world.) She has such a way with dragons that even dragons that are not from her world regard her.
Ti-Enna, on the other hand, grows up in the shadow of her sister. She never develops any real talent at anything, and turns out to be kind of clumsy. She's average, but next to Ni-Tanya the contrast makes her appear less than. But she has a story of her own. that makes her important.
